I often talk about a lot of series that I love and I’ve spoken honestly about some that weren’t so good as well. But what are my least favourite series?
It’s often quite easy to tell that I’m disliking a series. Usually, there’s sighs and eye rolls, I’ll rest my cheek on my fist and sometimes, although it’s rare, I have been known to even fall asleep. But what are the five anime that I’ve completed (so movies are a no-no here) but hated since I started watching anime way back in 2012?
- Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteriu
What a let down. Classified as a slice-of-life, romance anime, I was quite looking forward to this show and yet, as the show continued to get closer and closer to it’s first season conclusion, I became more and more disappointed. I’m not going to mention too much as to why I was disappointed, as I wrote a review about it here, but this is definitely one of the lowest rated anime I’ve seen. Rating Given: 5/10
- One Punch Man
I can hear the gasps already. But, guys, seriously – OPM, despite having a pretty good soundtrack, is so average. The comedy was repetitive to the point you can predict what the characters are going to say, the story was too repetitive, but it’s not only that. I get that he’s a superhero (‘he’ being Saitama here) and everything, but the fact that he can take out a monster God knows how many times bigger than him in a single punch is ridiculous. I don’t care if it’s in anime or not, it’s freaking ridiculous. The series is quite a lazy one, simply because of that in itself. Rating Given: 4/10
- D-Frag!
Yet another one I’m not going to go into too much detail over due to already reviewing it here, but D-Frag!, despite having so much praise, was a complete flop for me, personally. The characters are boring, the plot is so ridiculous – it’s boring, and there’s no actual ending which really frustrates me. With this and Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigateriu both making the list, it’s not looking good for the other series that come from Brian’s Base. Hopefully it’s more of a storyline problem than a production company problem. Rating Given: 4/10
- Vampire Holmes
Now, I understand that many are reluctant to actually classify this as ‘anime’, but it is one – the animation and general graphics are simply bad as its source material is a mobile phone game. The script is also terrible, but there’s something about Vampire Holmes that is just simply charming. Perhaps it’s because I’m a fan of the Sherlock Holmes stories anyway, but I did genuinely become so invested in this series for at least a brief amount of time. It’s definitely the only one on this list you should actually check out, just so then you can say that you’ve watched it. And as it’s 12 3-minute long episodes, is it really so troublesome to watch? Rating Given: 3/10
- Cat Shit One
Oh, boy, am I going to have fun remembering this piece of, well, shit! Although I’ll give it some credit and say that the animation was fairly decent, that’s not where I have a problem with it. The problem lies with the story. It’s practically a retelling of the Iranian hostage crisis, but with bunnies and camels. Now, you can imagine that it’s a pretty sensitive topic already, but the script takes it out of proportion entirely – the slight homoeroticism between the two main bunnies definitely doesn’t help the show’s cause either. It’s definitely an offensive anime, so it’s really not advised to watch if you’re sensitive to that certain type of humour. Fortunately, only one episode exists. Perhaps it’s because they realised how shit it is or because it’s because it’s insensitive..Maybe a bit of both. Who knows? (I’d find out but I really cannot be bothered wasting a valuable Google search on such trash.) Rating Given: 2/10
So, yeah, it’s pretty clear that I also have some bad opinions on anime and these are my least favourites of all time so far. Perhaps this list will change before this time last year? It’ll be pretty interesting to find out.

Until next time!
