Around this time of year, we all make resolutions. Some that we keep, some that we don’t keep.
Personally, I’m going to be making a lot of resolutions this year, because I want a challenge and because I need them to motivate me somewhat. This may seem like it’s a bit of a lazy post, but today I’m going to take a step to the side for a moment and think about my anime goals for the next year. What am I wanting to watch? What am I wanting to do? Well…
- Get through my entire “On Hold” list
We might as well start with a tough one. 40 shows of various differnt enjoyment levels are on here – everything from 91days to Girls und Panzer. I know I won’t enjoy a lot of them, but it’s my aim to be able to complete all 40. There’s a lot of mutliple-cour anime on there, so wish me luck. - Form an opinion on the shows on my “Watching” list
Okay, so this seems like an obvious one. But there’s shows on there which I haven’t touched since Summer – Spring, in some cases. I need to get through these ASAP, really, for the sake of my own sanity (not to mention some promised content from agees ago!). - Only pick 5 shows each season!
So I have a tendancy to pick out ~10 shows from each season to watch and blah-de-blah-blah-blah. The point of me lowering this number is that it’s just not plausible for me to watch all of these shows, especially in the next six months or so. This is going to be hard as I do want to watch as much as I can, but it’s just not plausible as of right now. Maybe one day I can dedicate more time to watching shows… We’ll see. - Revisit the shows I’ve “Dropped”!
Certain shows that I’ve dropped in the past have come up a lot in 2017, to the point where I’ve been genuinely thinking that some shows probably aren’t as bad as I initially thought. I’m going to at least visit a couple of shows from this list – whether I’ll get through them all is a different story. - Watch more genres!
I have a tendency to watch a lot of slice-of-life, drama and romance shows, as well as a lot of music-themed shows. But where’s the action, fantasy, shounen shows? 2018 will definitely see me wanting to experiment with genres, so please feel free to send me suggestions!
All things considered, there are some shows that I’m definitely prioritising for 2018. Expect to see some Yuri On Ice!, SukaSuka and Boku no Hero content some time next year!
This post was written as the fifth installment in my #12DaysOfAnime posts! #12DaysOfAnime is a challenge taken on by loads of anime bloggers, vloggers, podcasters and other people on many different platforms. We just have to post twelve consecutive posts about anything anime-related for the twelve days leading up to Christmas!
Keep an eye out for my other posts that will be a part of the #12DaysOfAnime Challenge! These will cover a variety of topics such as anime reviews, conventions and much more, so there’s going to be something a little different every day!
Hope to see you around!
These are some great goals. Ive thought about what I want to achieve for 2018 and my on hold list like wise is one of them. Good luck with your goals XD
