The world of anime, if you’re just venturing out, is a big, scary looking mess of animation. There’s all these colourful looking cover arts and genres named in an – often – unfamiliar language.
This is Week 3 of Anime For All and I still can’t believe how much you’re all enjoying this segment! Honestly, it’s quite fun searching up the different genres and picking a couple of shows that I think you’ll like, so I’m glad you’re enjoying the segment!
This week I’m going to be focusing on comedy – a genre that I personally think is often a struggle to find good shows of. Hopefully this will help you out, though, so let’s get started! This week, I’m featuring The Devil Is A Part-Timer, Daily Lives of High School Boys and Ouran High School Host Club.
These shows are available to watch on:
- Crunchyroll
- Funimation
- Hulu
- Netflix
- TubiTV
- Yahoo! Video
As always, though, be aware of the differences between regions! For example, just because it’s on the US Netflix doesn’t mean it’s on the UK Netflix!
The Devil is a Part-Timer is a thirteen episode long series which follows the Demon Lord Satan himself as he tries to conquer the land of Ente Isla. Or, it would be… If it wasn’t for the fact that he’s been diverted to the human world! Stranded in modern-day Tokyo with his loyal friend Alsiel, Satan must find a way out of the human world! Powerless, Satan takes on the takes on the identity of Sadao Mao and begins working at MgRonald’s to make ends meet. Somewhat relatable in some aspects, The Devil is a Part-Timer presents a comedic approach to showcasing even the most mundane aspects of day-to-day live. Approximate time to complete: 5.2 hours
Daily Lives of High School Boys is literally what it says on the tin, so to speak and is a recommendation by illintelligence. At Sanada North High School, there’s Hidenori – the eccentric ringleader, the passionate Yoshitake and the rational prude Tadakuni. With robots, love and drama in their imaginative lives and everything ordinary in their real lives, the Daily Lives of High School Boys is definitely full of bizarre, yet relatable scenarios delivered in amusing way. This show is definitely one for the male audiences! Approximate time to finish: 4.8 hours
And finally, how can I not mention one of my favourite comedies of all time? Not only that, but Ouran High School Host Club was also my first anime ever, so of course I had to include it here! It follows Haruhi Fujioka as she enters Ouran Academy, a school for the elite. Wanting a quiet place to study, she stumbles upon Music Room #3 where she meets six of Ouran’s most handsome male students. These students form the Host Club – a group of boys with too much time on their hands who find pleasure in entertaining the girls of Ouran Academy. This is far from what Haruhi expected, but in an attempt to run away, something goes horribly wrong, causing her to enter a world full of cosplay, romance and more… Approximate time to finish: 9.9 hours
There you go! They were this week’s recommendations as part of Anime For All! If you’ve already seen any of these shows, let me know what you think of them in the comment section below!
Until next time!

I love The Devil is a Part Timer and Ouran! I’m dying to see Daily Lives but it’s not available where I live which makes me so sad because it looks hilarious!
I’ll be honest here and say that I haven’t actually seen Daily Lives yet, but I trust illintelligence with his recommendations and I will definitely get around to watching it at some point soon! I’ll be needing a good comedy once my workload increases! :’)
Yeah I hope to watch it in the future! The screenshots and small clips I have seen of it look hilarious and just what I need in life! XD
The first time I watched Ouran High School Host Club, I didn’t really get the appeal until I was nearly finished watching it. Then I rewatched it and absolutely loved it.
The Devil is a Part Timer was great but I’d love a follow up series.
Nice suggestions.
I agree – Devil Is A Part-Timer definitely needs a follow up series!
Well I will be honest (no offense 🙈🙈), but I really don’t like comedies. It’s the one genre I usually give a pass on. The only anime comedy that I really enjoyed was Urusei Yatsura…and that’s a very old series. It was however seriously hilarious 😂😂
Still…enjoyed your post though! Am really liking this series you are currently featuring on your blog 😊😊
I’m usually really picky when it comes to comedies, so I know the feeling! Still, I’m glad you’re enjoying the series!
Ouran HSHC is one of my faves and definitely a must watch. Even a must rewatch is a fitting title!
Definitely! Maybe even…9 rewatches? ^^”
Why put a limit? 🤣
Very true! 😂
OHSHC is a classic! I really enjoyed it because of the club’s, especially Tamaki’s, antics. And Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou is really funny, too! One other comedy that I enjoyed is Saiki Kusuo no Psi Nan. 😀
It’s a definitely a classic!
As for Saiki Kusuo no Psi Nan, I haven’t seen it admittedly, so I’ll definitely check it out once I can! ^^
As a huge lover of comedies – this is a great sampler and I would recommend it for newbies as well.
I wanted to try the devil is a part timer. Ouran high school host club is hilarious
Ah Ouran! Time to rewatch it methinks. Lol. I’m never getting to anything new… Or finishing anything else I’m watching… I’ll just revisit this one again… And again… It’s a great gateway anime, it is my second anime and the one that really pushed me into watching more. The other two sound hilarious too!
I loved host club, but never seen the devil is a part timer. I was debating on watching it.
Definitely give Devil Is A Part-Timer a try! I find the characters great!
Yea. I will.
