Hello! My name is Mia! I’m a 24 year old who loves everything to do with anime, manga, K-Pop and video games! I live in the UK, usually found flittering between the North and the more southern county of Oxfordshire.
I have been a fan of video games since a young age. I’ve always enjoyed them, but stopped playing them so much in high school as it just wasn’t what any of my friends did. Thanks to my friends at university, I have been able to reignite my love for gaming in more recent times. I have been a fan of anime since the early 2010s, mostly due to the influence of my high school friends and also thanks to YouTube recommending me to watch Ouran High School Host Club on Funimation’s channel. My passion for K-Pop was ignited soon after, after a friend told me to give it a listen and I fell in love with the boy group SHINee after watching their music video of Ring Ding Dong.
Aside from blogging, I also create content on YouTube (both anime and non-anime content), as well as stream on Twitch on regular basis. In March 2021, I became a Twitch Afffiliate.
When I’m not doing any of that, I’m usually found talking to friends online, watching TV, reading, traveling, taking photographs, or playing my guitar or keyboard.
The blog
I started A Girl & Her Anime in May 2016, after being elected as Social Secretary at my university’s anime society. My opinions on anime were sometimes contrarian to the majority of the society’s members, so I wanted a place separate to that community, where I could express myself and my opinions freely. Since then, the blog has gone from strength to strength, despite some challenging years in my personal life.
Although the blog’s name is A Girl & Her Anime, I cover topics in manga, K-Pop, video games and other slightly geeky entertainment topics (e.g. K-Dramas). I am always open to suggestions on topics to cover, so please do get in touch if you have some ideas!
I currently don’t have a blogging schedule. I have a couple of segments that I cover on a monthly basis, but aside from those everything is on an ad hoc basis. My blog is constantly evolving and things may change from time to time. Any dramatic changes will be announced beforehand.
Collaborations & Community
I also like to collaborate with other bloggers! In the past, I’ve been quite closed off from the rest of the blogging community, but after a couple of collaborations in 2019, I do wish to open up somewhat! Feel free to browse through my previous collaborations here and don’t hesitate to get in touch if you want to collaborate with me!
Having been a blogger for a few years now, I know the importance of getting yourself out there. If you wish to write for a different audience or maybe want to try blogging for the first time before you commit to your own blog, get in touch! I’ve had several people write on A Girl & Her Anime as a guest and their posts are often successful. Click here to see previous guest posts.
Please note that, because of the guest posting feature, not every post on A Girl & Her Anime is made up of my own opinions.
The anime community has always been a special place to me, but the anime blogging community is just magnificent. It’s such a supportive community and I’ve always admired those involved in it. One of my favourite things about the blogging community is how often we show our support to one another. One way we do is by tagging each other in a variety of tags and awards. You can see all the tags and award posts that I’ve published here on A Girl & Her Anime here.
Supporting A Girl & Her Anime
Currently, A Girl & Her Anime is technically a spare-time passion project, but it’s more like a second job. If you wish to support the blog, the easiest (and cheapest!) way to do so is to simply share the blog and any posts you like to people who might be interested! You can also support the blog by giving feedback and constructive criticism. I always enjoy reading comments, so feel free to start a discussion in the comment section as well!
Although A Girl & Her Anime is a currently a spare-time project, there are still many costs to factor into it. There is no obligation to do so, but if you wish to support the blog financially, there are two options to do so.
For a one-time donation, you can use Ko-fi. A donation via Ko-fi is just £3 and this will go towards the running of the site. In return, you can make a request for a post you want to see on the site.
If you wish to contribute to the blog on a monthly basis, you can use Patreon. Here, there are several tiers (none of which are higher than £3), all with different rewards, and this support will go towards the running of the site, the YouTube channel and fund other aspects of this project.
Working with Brands
Over the years, I’ve also had the honour of collaborating with a few brands. You can see the collaborations here:
If you are a brand interested in working with me, firstly – thank you! I really appreciate it!
I am interested in all things related to anime and manga; video games for PC, Steam, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch; animated shows; comic conventions; books; movies; geek fashion and beauty; technology. I will also consider other things, but only if I feel like it would fit with the blog’s niche.
You can send me an email here with any queries you may have regarding collaboration, whether that is in the form of sponsored posts, reviews, giveaways, ads or any other campaign.
I am currently involved in affiliate programmes for the following brands; Forbidden Planet. This means that I will receive a commission from purchases made on links to these brands. The commission is made at no extra cost to you, and I’m able to add some pennies to my blog fund. Posts with affiliated links will include a disclosure at the top of the post, as will any sponsored content or content posted in collaboration with a brand. Changes to this will be announced by appropriate means.
There may be some advertisements on the posts on this site. These should only appear in the middle of actual blog posts and should not appear on the main homepage or any category pages.
Finally, no matter who you are, I just wanted to say a big thank you for visiting my site. If you like what you read, please do share it with your friends!
