Admittedly, I was quite hyped for Fairy gone when it was released back in Spring 2019. I do love supernatural stories, I always have done, and the crime element just added to my anticipation. Yet, come the half-way point of the show, I don't know if I'm watching the same show or not.
What lurks in the dark?: Mayonaka no Occult Koumuin Review
Mayonaka no Occult Koumuin (or Midnight Occult Civil Servants) is a supernatural mystery anime that aired during the Spring 2019 season. Produced by LIDENFILMS (who also produced Koi to Uso and Yamada-kun to 7-nin no Majo), the series follows the latest recruit of Shinjuku Ward Office's Nighttime Regional Relations Department - Miyako Arata. If you're looking for a show that's quick-paced and has lots of fighting scenes, this isn't the show for you. It's also not the show you're looking for if you want a show with the greatest animation you've ever seen. However, Mayonaka is a show that's still underappreciated for what it is - an easy-to-watch supernatural mystery show.
Stop that sound?: Kono Oto Tomare! Season 1 Review
Music is a vital tool for bringing people together. It's a way of communication that we've had in our lives for centuries. And that message is very much prominent in Kono Oto Tomare!, a music-themed drama that aired in Spring 2019. Produced by Platinum Vision (the studio behind Servamp and Devils Line), it follows the daily life of a high school koto club - a koto being the national instrument of Japan.
Questions, Secrets & Orders: Fruits Basket (2019) Episodes 13-16 Review
It's catch-up time! Finally, the last of my Fruits Basket catch up posts. It's taken me longer than I had liked, but we're finally caught up in time for the next episode. Like last time, this will probably be quite the long post...
From Winter to Spring: Fruits Basket (2019) Episodes 10-12 Review
Buckle up, folks. Maybe grab a drink or a snack or something, because this is going to be a long one. I've finally been able to catch up with seasonal anime lately and it's definitely time to catch you all up on my opinons of Fruits Basket. (Not that they've changed.)
Fights, Love and Illness: Fruits Basket (2019) Episode 8 & 9 Review
Man, am I glad to come back to Fruits Basket after a short break! It really does make everything about the show even better. Everything becomes more enjoyable. And that's without me knowing that the ninth episode was featuring my absolute favourite - Hatsuharu. Ahh, what a treat! I do, however, realise that I was an idiot and forgot to write an episode review for the eighth episode. So, let me just quickly cover my thoughts on that before we dive into the ninth episode.
Spring 2019: Am I still watching?
We are currently halfway through this season and I'm really surprised about the quality this time around. Usually, seasons are filled with quite a few mediocre shows, but Spring 2019 really does seem like a top season. Regardless, being halfway through the season means it's time to reflect on the past six/seven weeks and begin to form an opinion on the shows I've been watching. Some of these shows really have surprised me and, uh... not always for the better.
The doctor will you see you now: Fruits Basket (2019) Episodes 6 & 7 Review
Fruits Basket really doesn't slow down with the emotions, does it? It's certainly not a bad thing to feel every single emotion in one episode by all means, but Fruits Basket does it so well, I swear. In the sixth episode, we meet Hatori Sohma and we definitely get to know him in the seventh with, of course, a very emotional backstory.
Rice balls are yummy!: Fruits Basket (2019) Episode 5 Review
I'm not going to sugarcoat it - I absolutely loved this episode. Sure, I may say that for most episodes of Fruits Basket, but this time I truly mean it. My emotions were all over the place. I was crying one second, laughing in the next and then completely in shock in the last. An episode which can pack so many different emotions, in my eyes, is a good episode.
This little piggy…: Fruits Basket (2019) Episodes 3 & 4 Review
I decided to take a break from the episodic reviews last week and merge episodes three and four together in one post. Which, quite frankly, works quite well. From the first two episodes, I was expecting great things. They were magnificent in, honestly, every way. They made me so happy. Episode 3, however... didn't quite make me as happy.
